The objectives of the Seminar are to discuss and debate the contemporary situation in Latin America, based in part on the criticisms first presented in the classic work by noted sociologist and anthropologist, Rodolfo Stavenhagn, Siete Tesis equivocadas sobre América Latina, a classical text that proved essential to the theoretical reflection of various currents expressed at that time (1965), from the marxist to the developmentalist, allowing for a broad intellectual exchange for the analysis of the problems studied. The Seminar proposes to provide a space for discussion and exchange of ideas of young Latin American thinkers, to discuss the problems raised half a century ago and to engage a dialogue between students and specialists around these issues.
